FMS406SALMONM/ Alexander Mcqueen Runway - Autumn/Winter 2013-14

Who is Alexander Mcqueen ?

Alexander started his working journey by first working in a Mens tailored suit shop called 'Anderson and Shepard' and then moved onto another tailoring shop called 'Gieves and Hawkes'. McQueen then decided to further his career in clothes making and began working with 'Angels and Bermans' a theatrical costumer designer. McQueen then left London and travelled to Italy Milan to work alongside and Italian Fashion Designer' Romeo Gigli as an fashion assistant. Finally Alexander McQueen studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of art and design, created a beautiful collection of clothes for his fashion design degree project, inspired by Jack the Ripper to then be named Chief Designer of Louis Vuitton.

Why do I like Alexander McQueens fashion design work?

For me Alexander McQueens fashion design and creations are truly unique to any other fashion brand, style and designer in the fashion industry. He made a dreamy, creative and artistic collection of bold clothing that set new standards in the fashion design world. Although a lot of designers attempt to imitate McQueens unique designs nothing comes close to his wearable art. Alexander McQueen is a practitioner perfect to use when looking for contemporary work and design for this Elizabethan project.

Alexander McQueen's Elizabethan Inspired Collection.

Alexander Mcqueen's Elizabethan inspired collection is incredibly beautiful and dreamy. The head pieces in particular from his collection stood out for me as they are bold, luxurious and scream Elizabethan wealth and power. Compared to traditional Elizabethan clothing and portraiture for women, this contemporary take on historical fashion is perfect. These models look, expensive, wealthy and sexy making the model's character seem dominating and powerful especially in the black coloured jewel incrusted head crown with matching black clothing.

These sourced images really helped me whilst searching for ways to create a makeup-up look that would project power but also glamour and beauty too. Personally in both of these images and traditional Elizabethan portraiture, luxurious clothing and adornments are almost too much which tends to make the luxurious clothing and accessories seem like they are wearing the person, rather then the other way around. Because of this I plan on making a expensive makeup look that makes my model look, powerful, beautiful and untouchable.
