Practicing my partners design.

In our independent learning time me and my partner met in the make-up studio and decided to practice our designs on each other. I began by creating her design on her face, at first it was intimidating because I didn't want to mess it up and I wanted to capture visually what her face chart and ideas reflected the way she wanted. I asked her lots of questions making sure I was using the correct products and techniques and then began to create the look whilst continuously asking if what I was doing was correct. This was the finished look on my first try which she was pleased with. In response to this the second time we practiced her design she had changed her ideas and also her design incorporating more colors making it much more abstract. From having the change to communicate and practice with her for the first time, I feel confident that we communicate properly and also work well together. Although this project is interesting and I like the idea of your partner creating your look, for me it also adds a lot of pressure as I feel so worried about messing up my partners look.

I started my partners look first by cleansing the skin then applying illamasqua satin primer to the face. After prepping the skin applied illamasqua skin base with a foundation brush and then buffed in the product with a kabuki brush, lastly setting the base with Illamasqua translucent powder. After creating the base I moved onto the eyebrows and lashes, blocking them out with Kryolan white supra color and setting it with translucent powder. I then began creating the eyeshadow shape and color, I first used some pink supra color to create the shape and intensify the color and then set this with a bright pink fuchsia color from the Kryolan Vbrights palette. To finish my partners eye design I created a thin line of gold underneath on the bottom lash line using a angled eyeliner brush from the Illamasqua liquid metals palette. Moving on, I applied the same gold colour from the Illamasqua liquid metals palette, to the lips following her natural shape and the slightly overdrawing them on her cupids bow making her lips look super defined. To finish the look I started lightly contouring my partners face with red and pink colors from the Kryolan blush palette around her forehead, temples, cheekbones and cheeks creating a subtle pink glow around her face. Although I nervous at first I enjoyed practicing my partners look a lot and think her design is very bold, colourful and creative. I look forward to practicing her design again and seeing what her hair design is also.
