In a recent make-up practical class I learnt how to cream contour. I found playing with creams to contour enjoyable and much more easy then contouring with powder products. I felt that when contouring with creams instead of powders, that I had more control of how much I was applying and also the precision of where I was applying the product on my model. Although I did struggle slightly when trying to estimate how much product I would need when applying highlighter on my model, so I tended to add to much sometimes. Also, It was interesting to use our fingers a lot more when using these cream products to contour as when I tend to use cream contour in my own make-up routine, the blending is always achieved with brushes. Of course, there is nothing wrong with using brushes, but using fingers to blend in the cream product created a really beautiful dewey finish to the areas of the face I placed shadow, and contour and activated the finish of the product with the warmth of my fingers.

How to cream contour -

I started of by cleansing and moisturising my models skin, then prepping the skin more with a desired primer, I chose using the satin finish Illamasqua primer. After this i created the best skin match for my model with the kryolan foundation palette. I then started to apply the foundation on the skin making sure I applied enough to create a nice amount of coverage to the skin, then blended the product into the skin with my kabuki brush.Once the foundation was blended in well I moved onto concealing the skin, my model didn't have any blemishes just minimal redness around the nose area, so I concealed these areas and again buffed it into the skin with my kabuki brush. Now that my base was created I started to highlight the areas on my models face with some concealer two shades lighter then her skin tone. Once I choose the best highlight colour I began applying the product to the under eye area, forehead, chin, centre of the nose and just above the cheekbones. I blended the highlighted areas well with my fingers until smooth and even. After highlighting I  moved on to defining the face with a contour colour. I chose a colour two shades darker then my models skin tone and then applied this to areas of the face, this time with a flat eyeshadow brush. I applied the contour colour to my models cheekbones, sides of her nose and forehead area, blending in again with my fingers. To finish the look I applied some blush from my kroyolan palette and also some translucent setting powder to set the face.
