FMS406SalmonM x Putting our ideas onto a face.

In this practical lesson with Kat, we were told to practice one of our created designs onto a partner. I had forgotten to bring my design that day but luckily I remembered one of designs I had made. After recently being inspired by some of Illamasqua's monochromatic eye looks, I decided to recreate this look into my own contemporary Elizabethan vision. After choosing my partner and taking into consideration her skin tone and hair colour, I decided that burgundy and pink shades would look stunning on her.
Swatches of colors used.

Starting off, I began to apply a mixture of kroyolan white cream colour and Illamasqua's white base together to create a foundation consistency. I use the mixture of these two together as they create a nice texture and consistency on the skin, that appears skin like and smooth, I applied these with a foundation brush and then buffed in with a kabuki brush. Because I had wanted to focus my base on only one section of the face, I ended up creating a mask shape of white base, only covering my models, brows down to her cupids bow, resembling a masquerade mask. After I buffed it into the skin well, I moved onto creating my eye look, I took a cream fuchsia pink colour from my kroyolan palette and applied it to my models lids smoking it out at the sides so that it look bold. When the eye shape I wanted was made I set the eyes with a translucent powder so that they wouldn't bleed onto the white base I had made. I applied the same colour to my models brows and lips and then added so pink eyeshadow from one of my eyeshadow palettes to intensify the colour on my models eye lids. After finishing what I had done I observed my look once more as I still felt that something was missing, then decided I wanted to create a ombre pink effect around the mask shape of my white base making it look less perfect and drawn on. I attempted to apply pink shadow to the outer lines of the mask shape to blend it together making a ombre effect but it wasn't working. So, Kat suggested I use a big fluffier brush and some blush to create this effect which worked perfectly.

After creating this look it reminded me a lot of the style of Stuart Leslie Goddard, who was the lead singer of the British Band, 'Adam and the Ants'. He has a very unique style that has elements of Elizabethan style and makeup as he usually wore makeup with white colours and even heart shapes on his face, which is what Elizabethans wore to hide blemishes and scars, decorating them.

If I was to recreate/practice this look I would make a different white base shape on my models face, making it look more unique. I would also change the colours I chose from pinks and burgundy to gold and bronzes instead as I think it would symbolise wealth in consideration of character, really nicely. I would also set my created white base with translucent powder to so that the face isn't tacky and has a better coverage.
