When reflecting I feel that I have made some very different designs unique from each other, but I have made sure that each face design, would be complimentary alongside my bold Elizabethan contemporary hair design. I have also considered my main focus of including 'attitude' into my contemporary Elizabethan character.
This 'Chola Chic' design is heavily inspired by the artist FKA Twigs and 'The black Swan'. I wanted to create a fierce, bold, makeup design that would create a unique wearable look that would also make an intimidating character that symbolises character. This makeup design would perfectly compliment the gold detailing I plan to incorporate into my contemporary hair design.
The 'Envious Elizabethan' design is inspired by Queen Elizabeth's Father, 'King Henry VIII and his shameless greed and disposal of women who couldn't conceive boy heirs. Although inspired by a historical Icon, the design also reminds me of the theatre production 'Wicked'. Like my first design, I feel that gold detailing in the hair would look really pretty combined with these green tones on the face and will enhance the jewels on the lips and the symbolism of greed. I created the effect of the makeup base to be mainly on only one side of the face to symbolise the greed eating the person alive as it is fed more and more power and wealth.
'Greedy Gold Goddess'
Monochromatic
The greedy gold goddess costume is inspired by Avant Garde theme makeup, in regards to the use of strokes of colour across the face, although my colours are all gold. When thinking of creating a tough makeup look that symbolised attitude with the colour gold I began to think of soldiers and how they use variations of the shade green as a camouflage, helping them blend into the background. I thought I could create something similar with my makeup design and mine would symbolise wealth and superiority, allowing the person that wears this makeup to blend into their wealthy and fabulous backgrounds whenever a peasant or someone below them questions their amazingness, just like a chameleon.
'Bad,Bronze Elizabethan'
Monochromatic
This bronze tone makeup design is something I created whilst looking at inspiring hair images, and I liked the different shades of red hair colours. I began to look at portraiture of Queen Elizabeth and how I could create a look that allows her to keep her porcelain pale youthful skin tone but enhance it with something that screams wealth and jewels as a makeup, thats when I began to play with bronze colours. This bronze colour used on the face can be used as a traditional Elizabethan 'contour' colour, used to warm up the faces of royalty only. As you can't apply scolding hot liquid gold to the face, why not find a dupe and wear your financial status on your face, what better way to say ' I am superior to everyone and anyone'. Something that may clash but could also work with this makeup design is that, I feel that it may not work with the gold detailing in the hair as it could appear over the top. But, although saying that it could clash with the detailing in the hair, it can be argued that the character wearing this hair and make-up can rock it and make it look amazing as long as they wear it with 'Attitude'.
